How to transport an urn with ashes?

A cremation urn can be transported either through the cargo terminal or as checked baggage, provided it doesn't exceed 23 kg in weight and 203 cm in total dimensions (length + width + height). The urn transportation is not included in the free baggage allowance and is always paid as an additional piece, regardless of other baggage.

To arrange urn transportation as checked baggage, you can:

  • Contact the call center;
  • Process at the airport (additional fees apply);
  • Visit airline ticket offices;
  • Use local travel agencies (additional fees apply).

When checking in an urn, you must present originals or notarized copies of the following documents:

  • Death certificate;
  • Cremation certificate;
  • Document confirming the urn's hermetic sealing and absence of foreign objects (non-insertion certificate).

The urn must be packed in special packaging. It can be transported either in a dedicated urn container or in a bag/suitcase, provided it has secure packaging ensuring safe transportation.

The urn container must be sealed.

For cargo terminal transportation, please contact the cargo department. Carrying cremation urns as hand luggage is prohibited.
