Rules for transporting excess baggage
If your baggage exceeds the free allowance included in your fare in terms of the number of pieces, dimensions, or weight, it can only be transported for an additional fee.
If the baggage exceeds the allowance in multiple parameters (for example, both in terms of the number of pieces and weight and dimensions), the fees for each excess will be summed up. For instance, if your fare allows one piece of baggage with a total dimension of up to 203 cm and a weight of up to 23 kg for free, but you have a suitcase measuring 100*70*50 cm (total dimensions — 220 cm) and weighing 25 kg, you will need to pay for both the dimensional excess and the weight excess.
The cost of transporting excess baggage can be found in the «Additional luggage» section.
Oversized baggage
If you need to transport oversized baggage — unusual in shape, size, or very heavy — please contact us by any convenient method: via the feedback form on the website, social media, or call center. We need to confirm in advance that we can transport such baggage; for example, that our aircraft's loading hatches are large enough and that airports have all necessary equipment for loading and unloading.
Transporting oversized baggage is subject to a fee. The cost depends on the weight, dimensions, and number of pieces of baggage. Exceptions include:
- wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, rollators used by passengers with reduced mobility;
- baby strollers.
You can find out the surcharge for oversized baggage in the «Additional luggage» section.
How to pay for excess baggage
You can pay for excess baggage in advance:
During ticket booking
- on the website flysmartavia.com;
- through the call center.
After the purchase
- through your personal account on the Smartavia website;
- by writing through the feedback form;
- through social media;
- by calling the call center.
Baggage is processed separately for each leg of the journey. For example, if you have one piece of additional baggage and you are flying from Moscow to Arkhangelsk and back to Moscow, you will need to pay for the additional baggage on both flights: from Moscow to Arkhangelsk and from Arkhangelsk to Moscow, totaling 2 pieces of baggage.
- If you increase the size or weight of your baggage during your journey, you will need to pay for the excess on the remaining legs of the journey.
- If you decrease the weight or dimensions of your baggage during your journey, the original cost of your baggage will not change; refunds or recalculations will not be possible.
If you refuse to pay for excess/oversized baggage, we may deny you boarding on the flight.
