How to bring a bouquet of flowers?

🌸 Bouquet in the cabin

Smartavia passengers may carry a bouquet of fresh flowers free of charge in addition to the carry‑on baggage allowance, without weighing or additional payment.

📦 Packaging and size

  • If the bouquet is wrapped in soft paper or film — it is considered an additional item and is carried in the cabin free of charge.
  • If the bouquet is packed in a rigid box or plastic container — it is treated as a separate piece of carry‑on baggage and must comply with the carry‑on size and weight limits (40×30×20 cm, up to 10 kg).
💡 Travel tip
Bouquets larger than 40×30×20 cm may not fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Holding a bouquet in your hands for the entire flight can be tiring. For this reason, bulky bouquets are best checked in as baggage — it is free, and airport staff can help pack it safely.

❓ Frequently asked questions about carrying flowers

— Can I carry potted plants in the cabin?
Yes, but they are considered as your main piece of hand luggage and must comply with the carry‑on limits. The pot must be securely packaged.

— How should I pack a bouquet to keep it from getting crushed in the cabin?
Wrap the stems in a damp cloth and place the bouquet in kraft paper or a thin bag. If you put the bouquet on the overhead bin, it is best to place it on top of other items so that nothing presses down on it.

— Do I need to pay for carrying flowers in the baggage hold?
No, a fresh flower bouquet is carried in the baggage hold free of charge and in addition to the baggage allowance of your fare.
