Passengers with autism spectrum disorders

Back

One of the fundamental principles of Smartavia's operations is creating comfortable conditions at all stages of the journey for all categories of passengers.

Since the beginning of 2025, the airline has begun implementing inclusive services for flight attendants and ground staff to support passengers with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Planning Your Trip and Purchasing an Airline Ticket

It is important for passengers with ASD to understand in advance what will happen at each stage of the journey. To ensure a calm and comfortable trip, we recommend reviewing our guide. It will help you learn what needs to be done before leaving home, at which stages security checks take place, how to get to the boarding gate, find your way around the aircraft, receive onboard services, use the entertainment system, get the attention of flight attendants, when you can unfasten your seat belt after landing, and other useful information.

You can purchase an airline ticket in any convenient way: on the website, at Smartavia own sales offices, at ticket offices and agencies, or through the call center.

When purchasing a ticket, specifically at the stage of entering passenger information, in the "Add Special Services" section, you need to check the corresponding box "I have mental health conditions (ASD)".

If you have already purchased a ticket, please let us know about the autism spectrum disorder. Write to us via the feedback form, selecting the appropriate message category. Specify the flight details and the information of the passenger who needs our assistance.

Please provide the following:

  • Full name of the passenger with ASD and the accompanying person (if applicable);
  • ticket number (13 characters) or booking reference (6 characters);
  • the need for escort and assistance services at the airport, as well as any other details that may be important for a passenger with ASD during the flight. We will pass this information on to the flight attendants.

At the Airport and On Board the Aircraft

Smartavia flight attendants and ground staff will be able to provide escort and support to passengers with ASD and their companions on the ground and during the flight.

We will seat the passenger with ASD and the accompanying passenger together so that the flight takes place in a familiar and calm environment.

Passengers with ASD may also bring a familiar and necessary item that will help them cope with anxiety (for example, a toy or noise-canceling headphones). If the item is bulky and slightly exceeds the carry-on baggage size, please let us know.

On board, you can contact the flight attendants with any questions. Simply press the call button above your seat.

Flight attendants will help ease anxiety and provide special care during the flight.
