Now from the capital of Komi to the westernmost city of the country you can fly without transfers. The first Smartavia flight yesterday, June 3, successfully landed at Khrabrovo Airport, delivering 148 passengers to the Baltic coast.

Since June 3, Smartavia has started operating scheduled flights on a new route. The flight geography has been expanded with the long-awaited destination connecting Syktyvkar and Kaliningrad.

The Boeing 737-700 aircraft took off from the airport of the Komi Republic's capital at 16:10 local time and set course for the west. After 3 hours and 20 minutes, at 18:30 (also local time), the aircraft was met by the runway of Kaliningrad's Khrabrovo Airport.

Convenient, fast, without connections

Previously, to get from Syktyvkar to Kaliningrad, passengers had to plan a long route with transfers in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Now the flight takes only 3 hours and 20 minutes. This is an ideal option for a vacation, business trip, or a visit to family.

- Expanding the route network is part of the airline's strategy, and we try to focus on opening direct regional routes, including Kaliningrad, which remains one of our key destinations in the country's Northwest. When choosing the new destination, special attention was paid to transportation demand, the airline's technical capabilities, and other factors that directly impact the efficiency of our work, - said Smartavia CEO Andrey Vinichenko.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the first flight on the new route at Syktyvkar airport, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Komi Republic Eduard Slabikov, in particular, said:

- Thanks to the personal initiative and support of the Head of the Komi Republic Rostislav Goldstein, this project has been realized. Following his instructions, the regional government has done a great deal of work to make the desire of many residents of the republic to fly directly from Syktyvkar to Kaliningrad a reality. Now you can get to the city on the Baltic directly, without transfers.

Smartavia already operates regular flights from Syktyvkar to St. Petersburg and Sochi.
